Pacific Life Insurance Co. won an insurance dispute after a federal appeals court said the estate of an individual who died can’t get benefits because he never accepted the policy. The policyholder, Travis Richardson, never truly accepted the insurance policy even though he paid for the premiums, the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit said on Thursday. Richardson applied for a life insurance policy with Pacific Life in January 2021.

A KB Financial Group Inc. unit won an insurance dispute after a federal appeals court said the company has no obligation to provide coverage to the owner of a Philadelphia deli where a customer was stabbed. Kookmin Best Insurance Co. isn’t on the hook for injuries that happened at the deli because the issue was already decided in a separate state court action, and the commercial general liability policy bars coverage for assault, the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit said Tuesday.

American International Group Inc. and Chubb Ltd. units won an opioid insurance battle against McKesson Corp. after a federal appeals court said the insurers have no obligation to cover McKesson‘s legal defense costs in lawsuits brought by government entities. The government lawsuits against McKesson never alleged an “accident” or unintentional harm required for coverage under the drug wholesaler’s commercial general liability policies, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said on Friday.
