After a disappointing winter break, where the Case Western Reserve University men’s basketball team lost both of their games in the E.M. “Mose” Hole/Wooster Kiwanis Classic, they returned on Jan. 11 to Horsburgh Gymnasium to upset No. 24-ranked Carnegie Mellon University 89-67 in their first UAA game of the 2024-2025 season. With the win, the Spartans improved 5-7 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Despite an early two-set lead, the Case Western Reserve University volleyball team concluded their 2024 season with a tough five-set fall to the University of Dubuque in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The squad ends the season with an overall record of 24-8 and a 5-2 record in conference play. Earlier in the semester, the Spartans went on a historic 12-0 run in nonconference matches and recorded Head Coach Karen Farrell’s 500th career win.

After a series of unideal conference matches, the Case Western Reserve University women’s soccer team made their fifth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, where they beat Skidmore College 4-3 and fell to No. 5-ranked Messiah University 0-1. During the non-conference regular season, the team saw a lot of success against unranked universities, remaining undefeated in non-conference contests.

November not only brings freezing winds and cascades of autumn-hued leaves, it also marks the last weeks of the season for the Case Western Reserve University cross country teams that have braved all sorts of weather and courses the past semester. For many of the runners, their outdoor cross country season concluded this past weekend with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional where the men’s team placed fourth (137 points) and the women’s team placed ninth (246 points) out of a total of 39 teams.

With half a new roster, the Case Western Reserve University men’s basketball team began its 2024-25 season with a promising start: winning the Bill Sudeck Tournament for the third consecutive year with an opening-night blowout victory against Penn State Altoona and a thrilling double-overtime 101-99 win over SUNY Brockport in the championship match. “The result of the weekend is what we’re looking for. Two wins, zero losses,” fourth-year guard, co-captain and tournament MVP Sam Trunley said.
