A few things for motorists to considerReturning from a road trip to spend a few days with my mother, I was riding home on the Honda SCL500 we still have on long-term loan. Approaching a roundabout on a rather rural section of road, I entered cautiously but correctly, making sure I had room behind and before me.

The Motor Company’s CEO Steps DownNews came today that Harley-Davidson’s CEO, Jochen Zeitz, is stepping down from his position. The company is now beginning the search for a new leader. The Motor Company issued a statement late yesterday confirming that Zeitz was stepping down, and that the search for a new CEO was commencing. According to the statement, Zeitz is retiring after five years as the brand’s CEO.

A home away from home in the southern Smokies4 1/2 years. That’s how long it’s been since the last time I rolled in and set foot on the grounds of Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge in Stecoah, North Carolina. Had it really been that long? My memories of our last trip here in many respects feel like yesterday. Phil, Ted, my friend Lyle, and myself, all enjoying one of the most beautiful, colorful autumns in recent memory, up in the mountains of western North Carolina.

Catching the tail-end of the famed Bike WeekIn the early hours of Thursday, March 6, 2025, I left home pulling my toy hauler/trailer, headed for Daytona Beach. I had loaded in the trailer my Honda Monkey and CB500X , and my friend David’s Triumph Bonneville 1200. David was pulling his teardrop camper with his Mercedes as we headed on our way to Florida. The weather was good and we made it to the Florida line somewhere around noon.

Bikers Serving & Spreading The Good NewsMy initial contact with CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) came in 1998, when I was invited by a friend to a local chapter meeting and dinner. The group convened monthly in a fire station cafeteria, and one of the first CMAers I met that night was a big bearded burly guy who approached me and introduced himself as “Rev”.

A day in the saddle of Triumph’s premier Bonneville“I feel so naked and exposed,” chuckled Mac, while out on our day ride. “I’m used to large tourers with tall windshields, full fairings, deep comfortable saddles, and lockable luggage, so this Triumph just feels so small to me. I bet it would be a lot of fun up in the mountains, though.” It would that, without a doubt.

Riding America on a 1984 Harley-Davidson SportsterIt was the summer of 1984. I was riding my Harley-Davidson FLH to California with my wife at the time, on one of our many road trip adventures. We stopped in Flagstaff, Arizona and visited the local Harley shop, mostly because we were always looking for more oil for the bike. As I walked in the front door, they were using a new black XLX Sportster for a doorstop to keep the front door open.
