Polymyalgia RheumaticaGiant Cell ArteritisPolymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is the second most common inflammatory rheumatic disease after rheumatoid arthritis in persons older than 50 years,1 reaching an estimated prevalence of up to 1.5% in this age group.2 Despite its frequency, many uncertainties and misconceptions still exist about how PMR should be diagnosed and managed. In many countries, primary care appears the practical and appealing setting for the triage and treatment of patients with PMR.
