    EMAGAMI - The Municipality of Temagami has for many years been looking into possible areas for expansion as it strives to develop and increase its tax base. At their March 27 meeting, council continued the discussion on what pieces of crown land could be pursued, and what is available. The discussion has opened up again because the provincial government is more willing to consider transferring approved packages of crown land to municipalities.

    TEMAGAMI - Funding assistance is being sought by the Municipality of Temagami from the NOHFC in the hope of a nod of approval for needed upgrades at the Temagami arena. The project was discussed at the municipal council’s working group meeting March 27. Municipal clerk Sabrina Pandolfo later explained the municipality has applied for a funding application and is waiting on a decision.

    TEMISKAMING SHORES - An animal rescue task force will be meeting again in June to further discuss and review the possibility of harmonizing the region’s animal control bylaws. Based on the area served by the Northern Animals Rescue and Sanctuary, which mainly includes Temagami to Kirkland Lake, the task force sees the municipal bylaws across the area as one of the first steps that will help address a ballooning population of unwanted pets.
