TEMISKAMING SHORES - TAG is hosting an exhibition from the McMichael Canadian Collection d’Art Canadien. “This is the first show we’ve had from McMichael,” said Temiskaming Art Gallery (TAG) curator Melissa La Porte at the opening reception April 27. The exhibition People of the Watershed - Photographs by John Macfie, depict Macfie’s observations during his time as a trapline manager working alongside Indigenous communities in the 1950s and ’60s.
Cobalt approves budget with 6.5 per cent increase

COBALT - Cobalt council approved the town’s 2025 budget on May 6, bringing in a 6.5 per cent tax rate increase and a ten per cent increase in the water bill. Town manager Steven Dalley and deputy clerk-treasurer Cassandra Beaudouin presented the budget for council’s approval. The town heard its auditor present the 2024 financial audit April 29. Dalley said his goal is to have the 2026 budget ready at the end of 2025 or in early 2026.
Wind turbine proposals blowing through Kerns and Hudson

HUDSON/KERNS - Both Hudson and Kerns Township landowners have been canvassed by wind turbine proponents over the past several months. EDF Renewables North America (EDF Renewables Canada) and Horizon New Energy both have been visiting landowners in the area to determine if they would be willing to enter an agreement that would allow wind turbines to be constructed on their property.
