Two men aged in their 20s have been arrested in connection with the seizure of around €460,000 worth of cannabis in Dublin on May 7. Gardaí searched a home in Swords shortly after 7pm, where they found 46 packages of vacuum-sealed cannabis herb. The two men are currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Garda stations in the DMR North. Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) will analyse the seized drugs. Investigations are ongoing.

A woman will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning to be charged with Arson on a bus during the Dublin riots in November 2023. Gardaí in Store Street arrested nine people — three women, four men, and two juvenile males — in connection with the riots this week. Two of the women were charged and released on bail to appear in court at a later date, while the two juveniles were released pending the submission of files to the Director of the Youth Diversion Programme.

Tributes have been paid to Charles O'Malley, who died following an accident in Co Mayo. Mr O'Malley, better known by his loved ones as Charles Gerry, has died at age 88 following a single-vehicle crash at Glen Clare Island. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene on May 6 after a car entered the water at approximately 1pm. Mr O'Malley was pronounced dead at the scene. His family thanked all of those who helped following the accident.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack that left an elderly couple’s home extensively damaged in Cork last month. The men, both aged in their 30s, were detained during an operation carried out in the Dublin area on Tuesday, May 6. Detectives from Cork searched two residential properties in the capital as part of the ongoing investigation. The men are currently being held at a Garda station in Cork City under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardaí have seized drugs worth over €500,000 and arrested three individuals — two in their 40s and one in his 30s — during a search operation in Co. Limerick. The operation took place on Tuesday, May 6, in the Galvone area of Limerick, where gardaí from the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit, in conjunction with other Limerick Regional Units, stopped and searched a vehicle. During the search, gardaí discovered cannabis worth around €30,000. A follow-up search was conducted at a nearby premises.
