The leader of the Catholic Church in Ireland, Archbishop Eamon Martin, said the Pope had been "showing immense courage and serenity in the face of frailty and suffering". Catholics in west Belfast and Londonderry expressed their shock at hearing the news on Easter Monday.

“Extremely serious” questions about the Creeslough explosion still need to be answered, a lawyer for a group representing some of the victims's families has said. Damian Tanswey was speaking after Ireland’s justice minister met the group representing some of those killed and injured in the explosion. The group wants the Irish government to commission an independent investigation. The blast at a service station and shop in County Donegal in October 2022 killed 10 people.

The new test centre at Hydebank was due to open in 2022 [BBC]A new MoT centre at Hydebank which was originally supposed to open in 2022 will now not open until mid-2025 at the earliest, BBC News NI understands. The Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) has issued a notice of termination to Worldwide Environmental Products Inc (WEP Inc), a US-based company which had installed the testing equipment and software at the centre.
