    The A&D universe for mineral and royalty companies in 2025 has seen its potential energy gathering in the wake of frenetic E&P consolidation, following an uneven and muted 2024. Whether that energy translates into deals or simply dissipates is a matter for debate.     A one-two punch from the Trump administration’s tariff policies and sooner-than-expected OPEC+ production increases has shaken the longer term outlook for crude oil prices, with WTI predicted to average $63.88/bbl in 2025 and $57.48 in 2026. The analysis by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) revamped price forecasts following a topsy-turvy tariffs announcement and subsequent 90-day pause on a range of reciprocal global tariffs that the U.S. announced on April 2.

    Excelerate Energy has agreed to buy New Fortress Energy’s (NFE) Jamaica LNG assets, including an import terminal in Montego Bay and power infrastructure business, for $1.055 billion cash, the companies said March 27. The deal provides The Woodlands, Texas-based Excelerate exposure to the natural gas market in the Atlantic basin.
