We are instead all being encouraged to age adventurously. Forget bingo night. Today’s older adults are jetting off to exciting places. They they are learning to kayak, or to swim or ride a bike for the first time. They are taking classes and learning new and exciting things. Sunday, June 8th is officially, Age Adventurously Day.

For those who don’t know, May 30th is the traditional Memorial Day. And to honor the Northland men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our nation, the Northland Vietnam Veterans Association joined with other veterans groups to remind all of us of the names.
Glensheen Mansion 2025 summer tours and events announced

The best time to give input on designing something is before anything is even created. That time is now for two trailheads and a proposed bike playground in Duluth. The Duluth Parks and Rec division held a public input meeting Wednesday night to get ideas and feedback on conceptual plans for three public park areas. The trail heads at Lester park and Piedmont need maintenance, but what’s a bike playground?
Dylan Fest 2025 is underway at various venues

The times, they are a changin’. But all this week from Hibbing, to Superior to Duluth the Northland is celebrating a favorite son with Dylan Fest 2025. Born and raised here, Bob Dylan’s music and song writing have influenced generations. Dylan is the only musician to ever be awarded a Nobel Prize. Wednesday night at the cedar lounge in Superior, Dylan Festivities continued with Molly & the Danger Band bringing the Dylan groove to music fans. Dylan fest events run through Sunday at various locations.
Guilty verdict in Duluth murder trial

A week-long Duluth murder trial has ended in a guilty verdict. 26-year old Chantel Moose died from a stab wound in April of last year. On Tuesday, a jury in St. Louis County found 35-year old Darrius Lamar Plummer guilty of second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony. Court documents say officers responded to downtown Duluth just after 2:00 a.m. on April 12th, 2024 to reports of gunshots and a possible stabbing.
Former Cloquet police officer found guilty of attempted theft from vulnerable adult

A former Cloquet police officer has been found to have exploited a now-deceased 78-year-old vulnerable adult. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office says Laci Silgjord met the now deceased victim through her job as a Cloquet police officer and that five months later, she ended up gaining access to the victim’s bank account. The attorney general’s office Monday ruling Silgjord attempted to inherit the victim’s estate worth more than $150k.
Landfill agreement reached between St. Louis County and Resource Renew

The board of directors for the Western Lake Superior sanitary district, publicly known now as Resource Renew, approved a ten-year contract with St. Louis County. The Mocassin Mike landfill in Superior has taken our trash for around 40 years, but it’s nearly at capacity.
