While most spring sports were put on hold by last week’s winter weather, Mora’s boys tennis team hit the sun-dried asphalt for two outdoor matches on Thursday and Friday. The Mustangs were in Cambridge on Thursday to face a senior-heavy Bluejackets team that is hoping to be among the leaders of Section 7AA. The hosts flexed their upperclassmen strength early and often, sending the Mustangs home without a set or match victory.

Foley’s Fieldhouse played host to 10 Great River Conference track teams last Saturday, March 29, for the annual GRC Indoor Meet. Gray skies, a stiff wind, and temperatures hovering just above freezing made athletes and fans alike thankful for the indoor venue. Mora and Ogilvie were among the schools on site, though the Mustangs were short-handed with dozens of athletes in Florida on the triennial band and choir trip.

The offseason came too soon for the Ogilvie girls basketball team, after a sudden and shocking loss to Swanville last Thursday in Ogilvie. A competitive January meeting — a 54-51 Ogilvie win — added to the intrigue of this Section 5A-East quarterfinal, and fans from both towns turned out in droves to witness the rematch. An early 6-2 Swanville lead was wiped away by Kadence Pierce, who got to the free throw line four times and the rim twice by running the floor in transition.
