    Cooler, more seasonable temperatures have settled in to the state, but they won't stick around too long. After a cold and frosty start with lows in the 20s and 30s, expect a sunny day with light winds and highs in the 50s. Another cold night is expected tonight with lows once again in the 20s and 30s. Tomorrow, we begin a warming trend. With a mix of clouds and some sun, expect highs in the middle to upper 50s. By Tuesday and Wednesday, highs will rebound into the 70s.

    After record breaking warmth the last couple of days, cooler air will settle in for the weekend. Along with the cooler temperatures, the dry stretch of weather from the last several weeks continues for the next several days. An elevated fire risk continues statewide due to the lack of rain. While there will be less wind compared to Friday, there will still be a breeze adding to the fire threat.

    Temperatures are returning to average levels over the next couple of days. The wind will be less gusty this afternoon compared to yesterday. Still, a breeze can be expected between 10 and 20 mph at times keeping an elevated fire danger across the state. The average high temperatures are now in the upper 50s. That's exactly where are temperatures will end up through Monday along with plenty of sunshine.

    The lack of rain combined with a gusty wind will continue a high fire danger Saturday. The National Weather Service continues a red flag warning for the entire state, which indicates that any fires that ignite could spread rapidly. The passage of a cold front on Saturday morning will help to increase the wind through this afternoon. Some gusts could top 30 mph at times. The dry weather pattern of the last several weeks continues.

    The weekend started off with sunshine and warm temperatures with a high on Saturday of 74 at Windsor Locks. That warmer than average weather looks to continue today and well into the new workweek. The average high temperature for this time of the year is 62 degrees. The StormTracker weather team is forecasting highs well into the 70s once again today. Monday's high temperatures away from the shoreline are expected to reach or exceed 80 degrees.
