    Baltimore County Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash involving a woman and a school bus Wednesday afternoon in Rossville. The woman died after being struck by a school bus near Philadelphia and Ridge roads around 1:55 p.m., officials said. The collision forced road closures in the industrial area, which includes a Royal Farms convenience store and several small businesses. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Baltimore County Police said.

    Maryland National Resources police are investigating after a hiker found human remains at the Patapsco Valley State Park on Wednesday afternoon, officials said. Police were notified of the human remains found near the Forest Glen Trail in the Hilton area of the park around 1 p.m., spokesman Vincent Hunter Dortenzo said in an email. Portions of the Forest Glen and Grist Mill trails were closed Wednesday as police investigated the discovery, Dortenzo said.

    A Towson-based home detention monitoring company that primarily tracks Maryland offenders faced scrutiny after a teenager under its supervision was charged with fatally shooting two people earlier this year. Now, the state has suspended the operational license of Advantage Sentencing Alternative Programs, Inc. and fined it $2,500, according to a letter sent to the company Tuesday by Carolyn J. Scruggs, secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
