    The family of the late Austin Metcalf got targeted this week in a “swatting” incident. The Frisco Police Deparment in Texas told TMZ that a Metcalf family home in Frisco was “swatted” on Thursday. Police received a phone call regarding a reported gunshot at the home and responded with around 20 officers. But the call was ultimately found to be a hoax as police searched the home thoroughly and found nothing suspicious.

    Chandler Simpson is ready to try to break the sound barrier at the MLB level. Jeff Passan of ESPN reported on Friday that the Tampa Bay Rays are calling up outfielder Chandler Simpson. The move comes as the 8-11 Rays just placed fellow outfielder Richie Palacios on the injured list due to a knee issue in a corresponding move. Simpson, a 24-year-old left-handed hitter who can play at shortstop as well as in the outfield, has already gained a reputation as the fastest man in baseball.

The Los Angeles Lakers announced on Friday that they have signed Pelinka to a new contract extension.
