1 Introduction Pathologic angiogenesis is one of the leading causes of blindness in many eye diseases across all age groups worldwide, such as retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), diabetic retinopathy (DR), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO), all characterized by an uncontrolled retinal vessel growth due to tissue hypoxia and nutrient deprivation.
