    Worldwide aviation training company FlightSafety International is expanding its facilities at Farnborough Airport with a new centre expected to open in the second quarter of 2027. FlightSafety International (FSI) has operated a training centre at Farnborough Airport since 2004. The new facilities will boost training capacity by 40-50%.

    Good news for Brown Shutters Farm Airfield, an idyllic grass airfield 5nm SSE of Bath, and especially for pilots who fly in and out of the farm strip. Planning permission has been granted on the farm for five fishing lakes with nature conservation and wildlife areas – and, importantly, a new access track which will not only provide a pothole free experience but also allow runway 15/33 to be widened.

    Roadmaps are all the rage in government offices and now there’s a new one! What’s more, this is a ‘Landmark Roadmap’ agreed between the national aviation authorities from the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. The new roadmap is to speed up the certification of new aircraft types, and the validation process each country goes through to approve another country’s type certification.

    Aircraft manufacturer GippsAero is back in business, in Australia, making aircraft again. The first new airframe in five years began to be assembled recently. “A milestone day yesterday for GippsAero and Australian aviation with the recommencement of complete new aircraft manufacture. The rivet was set into the keel of GA8 Airvan Serial number 263,” said the factory.
