Miami Marlins right-handed pitcher Max Meyer had posted an impressive 2.63 ERA through four starts this season, with 27 strikeouts in 24 innings. On Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, though, Meyer enjoyed what was easily his most impressive start as a big-leaguer, striking out 14 while scattering just five hits over six innings of work. Meyer threw 92 pitches. His strikeout total was the highest for a starting pitcher against the Reds since Max Scherzer struck out 15 in 2019.
