Rummaging around my wine rack the other day I realised I was running a bit low on white wine, although I am well stocked with fizz and red wine. I don’t know what happened there. My wife must have been secretly drinking it behind my back; there is no other explanation. Anyway, I did grab a bottle of Californian Chardonnay and an English Bachus from my rack and stuck them both in the fridge. I’ve since made an order for more whites from the Wine Society, so looking forward to receiving them.

Dave Cronin aka VinoViews·Follow3 min read·--As much as I enjoy wine and it will always remain my drink of choice, sometimes I just fancy a cold beer, especially when the weather starts warming up. I am fussy when it comes to beer and it wasn’t always the case, those who follow my ramblings will know that I took a beer hiatus, for around three years a little while back.

This was a real surprise in a good way a really pleasant Verdejo from D.O. Rueda which is located in the Community of Castilla y León but bought in Valencia. This was another very good inexpensive young white we found on our recent holiday, took a chance as I knew nothing about it, just liked the look of the bottle, it was relatively cheap and I really like Verdejo. Can’t remember exactly how much I paid for it, think it was around 7 or 8 Euros.

Dave Cronin aka VinoViews·Follow3 min read·--Up next are three more wines from the Valencian region, a white Malvasia and two red blends. Two were excellent and one, I wasn’t so sure about, but it did improve, see below for my notes. All were very reasonably priced, well at least here in Spain. I feel with rising prices everywhere at the moment, Spain on the whole is still very good value when it comes to beer and wine.

Dave Cronin aka VinoViews·Follow3 min read·--Continuing my Spanish getaway here in Valencia, here is a quick look at a couple of wines I’ve enjoyed both from Utiel-Requena which is a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida for wines located in the province of Valencia, it takes its name from the two neighboring towns of Utiel and Requena situated around 70km west of the city.
