Forest Park graduate Ali Krieger has been selected for induction into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame for the class of 2025. The announcement was made Monday. Krieger was a soccer and volleyball standout at Forest Park before graduating in 2003.

The Highland School's Nate Ament was one of 12 players selected to the USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team. Ament was chosen among 28 players participating in a five-day training camp in Colorado Springs. The team will compete in the 2024 FIBA U18 Men's AmeriCup in Buenos Aires, Argentina June 3-9. Ament is a rising senior at the Highland School in Warrenton. He spent his first two years of high school at Colgan before transferring to Highland for the 2023-24 school year.

As a young boy, Tommy Adams attended Osbourn Park High School’s boys soccer games coached by Ken Krieger. He did so not as a fan, but as a forward-in-training. Adams wanted to learn the position’s intricacies when his turn came to play for Krieger in high school.

Sammy Michel moved through Colgan’s vaunted lineup with ease. In his varsity pitching debut as a Battlefield High School freshman, the left-hander nearly retired the side during the first inning. Brandon Cassedy (Christopher Newport) flied out then Evan Blanchard (George Mason) grounded out. After Brett Renfrow (Virginia Tech) reached base on an error, teammate Ryan Kennedy (Virginia Tech) grounded out to end the inning. Four batters. Three outs. No problem.
