The Windsor Spitfires continue to get recognition. The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) released their 2024-25 All-Star teams on Friday, and the organization was well represented. The 2024-25 season was one that the Spitfires needed. After finishing last in the Western Conference in 2023-24, they shot up the conference standings this season and refused to budge.

The Canadian Hockey League’s (CHL) Memorial Cup is a battle of the best major junior hockey Canada has to offer. In 2009, the Windsor Spitfires won their first championship, in Rimouski, PQ. As the tournament returns there this season, we look back to find out what happened to some of that roster. In 2006, Warren Rychel bought the Spitfires’ organization along with Bob Boughner and Peter Dobrich.

For much of the 2024-25 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) season, Windsor Spitfires’ captain Liam Greentree was Mr. Everything for his club. On Thursday, the league showed their appreciation, naming him a recipient of an award that means a lot to the Essex County region. This season was a major rebound for the Spitfires. After finishing last in the Western Conference in 2023-24, they shot to the top of the West Division, finishing second in the conference.

As Windsor Spitfires’ general manager Bill Bowler gets started on his 2025 offseason plans, one of the biggest areas he will have to figure out is his overage situation. If the club is going to be an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) contender again in 2025-26, this has to be as strong of a group as he can build. Every team in the OHL is currently allowed to have three overage (20-year-old) players dress per game. For the 2025-26 season, that means anyone born in 2005.

As the Windsor Spitfires say goodbye to the 2024-25 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) season, the summer months are peaking over the horizon. It has the potential to be a busy offseason for the organization, one that could set them up for a monster 2025-26 campaign. When the Spitfires finished last in the Western Conference in 2023-24, expectations for this season were modest. If they could get home ice in the first round, that would have been an incredible bonus.

1. Heights and I don't get along unless there's a serious guardrail involved. #norollercasters 2. Long ago, I tried nachos in almost every arena. It was tough to beat the Windsor Arena, no denial. The WFCU Centre nachos (which I still have on occasion) are outstanding! #OHL

The CHL/NCAA tide is turning, the Ice Dogs remain a mess, and he's tried hot dogs in every #OHL rink and tells you where to find the best. You know you wanna know. #OHLPodcast @DanMeagher Listen: https://t.co/zmLLA0513j Watch: https://t.co/COm1oKwUg2

It's great that they're finally eligible but... that reasoning leaves a bit of an awkward taste.

Breaking: MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred removed Pete Rose, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson and other deceased players from Major League Baseball’s permanently ineligible list. Manfred ruled that MLB’s punishment of banned individuals ends upon their deaths. They are now presumably https://t.co/YkIZ34jMUu
