The junior hockey landscape is changing and the Windsor Spitfires have benefited again. On Wednesday, the club signed its first pick from the 2025 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Draft and it’s a player who was a wild card. The annual OHL Draft takes place every April. Last season, general manager Bill Bowler had plenty of picks to use and made the most of it with eight prospects seeing some time with the club.

The Windsor Spitfires continue to get recognition. The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) released their 2024-25 All-Star teams on Friday, and the organization was well represented. The 2024-25 season was one that the Spitfires needed. After finishing last in the Western Conference in 2023-24, they shot up the conference standings this season and refused to budge.

As the tournament returns there this season, we look back to find out what happened to some of that roster. In 2006, Warren Rychel bought the Spitfires’ organization along with Bob Boughner and Peter Dobrich.

For much of the 2024-25 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) season, Windsor Spitfires’ captain Liam Greentree was Mr. Everything for his club. On Thursday, the league showed their appreciation, naming him a recipient of an award that means a lot to the Essex County region. This season was a major rebound for the Spitfires. After finishing last in the Western Conference in 2023-24, they shot to the top of the West Division, finishing second in the conference.
