Senate bill 12 is called the Parental Bill of Rights and prohibits diversity, equity, and inclusion mandates in public schools, whether it’s in hiring or class discussion. Governor Abbott appointed Gary Young as judge of the 62nd Judicial District Court in Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, and Lamar Counties for a term set to expire on December 31, 2026, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified. Gary Young of Paris is the Lamar County & District Attorney. He previously served as assistant district attorney for the Harris and Collin County District Attorney’s Offices.

Long time Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Camp Gambill northwest of Paris will go solar at ceremonies Friday morning at 10am. The installation has been made possible through a $116,000 grant by Green Mountain Energy Sun Club. The major sustainability initiative at Camp Gambill will power up a new 116-panel solar array which will provide nearly 80% of the 54-acre camp’s energy needs.
