Four years ago feels like a lifetime. In July of 2021, I was gleefully celebrating a Bucks NBA title, attending the championship parade in the streets of Milwaukee and writing a column about an experience that may very well be once in a lifetime. Now, roughly 45 months later, here we are — a third straight first-round playoff exit, an extremely murky future and a whole lot of "what-ifs."It all comes back to one thought — boy, are we lucky just to have one Larry O’Brien Trophy.

CEDARBURG — Matt McDonnell has been named the new head football coach at Cedarburg High School. "Coach McDonnell has been coaching football for 10 years between high school and college," Cedarburg athletic Director Jon Hannam said in a statement. Coach McDonnell’s coaching stops also include Florida, Mississippi and Ohio. Most importantly, coach McDonnell is a player’s first coach who is committed to developing positive relationships with his players, staff, parents and community members.

While senior Jimmy Krcmarik, the Raccoons’ No. 1 singles player from a year ago, is back in the fold, he’ll be making the switch over to one doubles to team up with junior Harrison Kabara.

WALES — Matt McDonnell has resigned as the head coach of the Kettle Moraine football program and will be assuming the same role at Cedarburg High School, according to Kettle Moraine Athletic Director Ryan Tomczyk. The position was posted on the Wisconsin Education Career Access Network (WECAN) this week, with the start date for the job listed as July 28. "This was a family decision that he believed to be in the best interest of his family," Tomczyk said.
