Caleb Smith, who quarterbacked the Staples football team to its first state championship in 18 years in 2023, is entering the transfer portal after one year with UConn. Smith, a redshirt freshman, made the announcement via X. "Thank you to Coach (Jim) Mora, Coach (Gordon) Sammi(s) and Coach (Pryce) Tracy for allowing me to be a part of this amazing program," Smith said on X.

Former UConn men’s basketball star Kemba Walker has reached an agreement to play in the BIG3 basketball league for the 2025 season, according to NBA insider and former ESPN and TNT reporter Chris Haynes. The BIG3 is a 3-on-3 league which features 12 teams with former NBA players and international players. It was co-founded by musician and actor Ice Cube in 2017. The 2025 season begins June 14.
