This moment is an interesting confluence of events in American politics. On Sunday, the much-discussed TikTok ban will go into effect. Truth be told, the law doesn’t ban the platform, it simply makes it illegal for the app to be distributed through Apple’s App Store, the Google Play Store, etc., should TikTok not divest from its China-based parent company, ByteDance. The legislation in question was adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives with wide bipartisan support, 352-65.

The election results from earlier this month solidified Michigan as a purple state. President-elect Donald Trump carried the state by about 80,000 votes out of nearly six million cast. At the same time, Elissa Slotkin won the U.S. Senate contest by roughly 20,000 votes. Two close statewide elections were won by a candidate representing each of the two major parties. Our state also had two very competitive open U.S. House contests. The results?
