Jacksonville PoliceARRESTS, CITATIONS-A 44-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested at 8:58 p.m. Thursday at Good Time Doc's, 220 S. Main St., on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. He was accused of making statements that alarmed employees, according to a police report. DISTURBANCES-Police were called at 1:12 a.m. Friday to a disturbance in the 100 block of Prospect Street. Those involved were separated.

Crime Stoppers of Morgan, Scott & Cass Counties is seeking information to assist Jacksonville Police Department in its investigation of a theft. Between 3 p.m. May 31 and 9 a.m. June 1, someone took a scooter from Fayette Court. The scooter was a red 2013 Honda PCX150. Police are asking anyone who has information concerning this incident or any other crimes within the three-county area to submit a tip by calling Crimestoppers at 217-243-7300.

She was accused of stealing someone's cellphone. -A 34-year-old Jacksonville woman was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of South Church Street on an aggravated battery charge. She was accused of hitting an emergency medical services employee in the face.
Jacksonville man gets 5 years for meth possession in Greene County

CARROLLTON - A Jacksonville man sentenced to five years in prison on a Morgan County drug charge was sentenced this week on a similar offense in Greene County. Nicky Steveson, 47, pleaded guilty in Greene Circuit Court to a felony count of possession of methamphetamine, according to Greene County State's Attorney Craig M. Grummel. He was charged in March 2024 with possessing less than 5 grams of the drug.

VANDALISM-The windshield of a vehicle was damaged while it was parked in the 800 block of Hackett Avenue, according to a report filed at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Those involved separated before officers arrived, according to a police report.
Greene County man gets 5 years for meth possession probation violation

CARROLLTON - A Greene County man has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of possession of methamphetamine. Anthony G. Talley, 36, of Alsey was sentenced Friday by Judge Allison Lorton after a contested sentencing hearing, according to Greene County State's Attorney Craig M. Grummel. Talley was on probation for a 2022 conviction but failed to comply with its terms, according to Grummel. Prosecutors filed a petition to revoke probation.

Brad Wallin film to screen in Jacksonville during memorial baseball tournament weekend

May 30-A movie about the life of Brad Wallin - who is being remembered this weekend and next during a memorial baseball tournament in Jacksonville - will be shown this weekend at Illinois Theater. Future Champions Sports Complex, which is hosting the Brad Wallin Memorial Tournament this weekend and June 6-8, partnered with the theater to show "Safe at Home." The short film looks at the life of the young athlete, who died in 2004 from a rare form of childhood bone cancer called osteosarcoma.
