Alstom has supplied three trains and CBTC for a replacement automated peoplemover at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Alstom handed over the peoplemover to Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) on June 23. A replacement automated peoplemover (APM) will open at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on July 1. The project was led by Alstom in partnership with a Malaysian joint venture between IJM Construction and Pestech Technology.

FRANKFURT (Oder) City Transport launched passenger operation on June 17 with the first of 13 new Škoda 46T LRVs, while Prague Public Transit (DPP) began trial operation with passengers with the first Škoda ForCity Plus 52T LRV on June 20. Eight LRVs have already been supplied to Frankfurt (Oder). Škoda says two more will arrive shortly and the final three are in the last stages of production.

EAST Japan Railway (JR East) is converting a E657 express EMU to provide sleeping compartments to make long journeys at night more comfortable. The new overnight express will enter service from Tokyo to northern Tohoku in spring 2027. “Through the experience of travelling on an overnight train, we hope to remind many customers of the excitement of travelling by rail,” JR East says.

CHINA Railway (CR) will introduce new limited-stop and overnight sleeper trains when the new national timetable comes into force on July 1. There will also be an expansion of scheduled freight services. CR is expanding services to cope with rising traffic. Between January and May, CR carried 1.86 billion passengers, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%, setting a new record. Limited-stop trains have fewer stops, run at higher speeds and offer shorter journey times.

The new line would be elevated and have 12 stations. Dudy Purwagandhi, Indonesia's transport minister. INDONESIA’s Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, speaking at the International Conference on Infrastructure on June 11, unveiled a proposal to extend Jakarta’s north-south metro line to South Tangerang city in Banten. The 22.6km elevated extension is estimated to cost $US 1.25bn, including land acquisition, construction and procurement of rolling stock.
