It’s been an emotional few days for Newcastle United fans after the long wait for another major trophy was finally ended on Sunday. First came the elation of the win, with Liverpool’s late goal in the final setting up a nerve-jangling final 10 minutes after Dan Burn and Alexander Isak had given United a 2-0 lead. Then came the party, the thrill of the celebration and the feeling of the last 70 years of pent-up emotion finally being unleashed as London turned black and white for the night.

Seventy years of hurt have come to an end - Newcastle United have been crowned Carabao Cup final on a historic day. The Magpies ended their Wembley hoodoo with a 2-1 win over Liverpool as well-taken goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak secured a victory that will go down as one of the greatest in the club’s history.

Erling Haaland may have been back among the goals in midweek, but Tuesday night's outing was anything but a success for Manchester City. Surrendering a three-goal lead late on against Feyenoord not only set an unwanted Champions League record; it also denied City the chance to put their demons to rest and end their five-game winless less - though the 3-3 draw did end their losing streak, at the very least. a run of five straight defeats.
