Due to recent federal government cutbacks, the need for donations has never been greater than now. The big day this year is this Saturday, May 10. Letter carriers from Chattanooga's Eastgate Post Office don't actually carry that many letters these days. Their bins are usually filled with bills, ads, and packages. This Saturday, they want to fill their trucks with an added ingredient.

But a North Jackson High School senior is on her way to the Ivy League. Macy Brooks of North Jackson High School has always been encouraged to follow her dreams. One of them was to attend a prestigious Ivy League university, something no Jackson County student had ever done before.

Not everyone gets a marching band salute when they retire, but the School Resource Deputy at Signal Mountain Middle School did, and it's much deserved. In our School Patrol report, students and teachers give Deputy Michael Houston a big send-off. For more than 20 years, Houston has been building relationships and keeping students safe. From Central High, to Loftis Middle, and most recently Signal Mountain Middle and High, Deputy Houston has built bridges between students and law enforcement.

The Battle of the Bosses is a special event designed to raise money for the culinary programs at both Brainerd High School and the Howard School. Hamilton County Schools face some tough decisions because of upcoming budget cuts. Among the controversial proposals is cutting transportation to magnet schools and one school is already fighting back. It's another busy day on 3rd Street in downtown Chattanooga. In this historic building that houses the Chattanooga School for Arts and Sciences (CSAS), more than 1100 students in grades K-12 pass through the doors each day.
