Discussion We found a significant increase in the prevalence of ROP among neonates since the introduction of the higher O2 saturation targets (post-2015). Odds of disease increased with increasing prematurity and lower birth weights. Importantly, we found increased odds of more severe ROP in the post-2015 group. The greatest increase in risk appeared to be in the <26-week cohort (a 62% higher odds of ROP ≥ Stage 2, 95% CI = 1.37–1.92 in the post-2015 group compared to the pre-2015 group).
