    IRONTON — A Proctorville, Ohio, area man was sentenced to eight to 12 years in prison Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court. Bryan Montroso, 57, of Township Road 1231, Proctorville, pleaded guilty last month in a drug case and was scheduled to be sentenced April 2 to three years in prison for aggravated possession of meth with the possibility of a judicial release after two years behind bars. Montroso, however, failed to show up for that sentencing and cut off an ankle monitor.

    IRONTON — An Oak Hill, Ohio, man was charged in a bill of information last week with 10 counts of rape and 10 counts of gross sexual imposition, according to Lawrence County Common Pleas Court records. Michael E. Bishop, 44, of Township Road 533, Oak Hill, was charged with the rape of a 14-year-old girl from March 15, 2020, to Feb. 8, 2025, according to a bill of information filed by the office of Prosecuting Attorney Brigham Anderson. Judge Christen Finley set bond in the case at $1 million.

    IRONTON — A Proctorville man accused of pulling a gun from beneath some bed covers and shooting a Lawrence County sheriff’s deputy last year rejected an offer of a 27- to 32-year prison sentence Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
