John Coleman and Jimmy Bell had been brought in on a short-term deal to halt an alarming slide that had at one point looked irreversible. They seemed to have sorted out a lot of issues behind the scenes without really capturing fans’ hearts following a run of only two wins in 14 games.

By David GarthSaturday's home game with Morecambe finally brought an end to our long wait for a win. It was a game most Gillingham fans felt was a 'must win' to avoid being dragged into an unthinkable fight to avoid relegation. I felt that it was vital to widen the gap between Gillingham and the bottom sides, so I issued a plea on behalf of the Gillingham FC Supporters' Club for all fans to get behind the team right from the pre-match warm-up through to the final whistle.
