A week ago, unified middleweight titleholder Janibek Alimkhanuly was calling for a fight with the super middleweight king, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Now, just seven days later, it’s another titleholder in Alimkhanuly’s own division who he says is the sole opponent for him. “I need that third title! Hamzah Sheeraz is making a couple of major changes after receiving the first blemish on his record – a draw against Carlos Adames that many felt should have been a loss. Sheeraz, now 21-0-1 (17 KOs), was seen as the top middleweight contender but could not wrest the WBC middleweight title from Adames in February. The split draw saw scores of 118-110 for Adames, 115-114 for Sheeraz, and 114-114. Sheeraz did suffer a hand injury in the bout.

The WBC’s latest ratings update, released April 12, includes the installation of one new No. 1 contender. At strawweight: The previous No. 1, Yudai Shigeoka, lost in his rematch with WBC titleholder Melvin Jerusalem on March 30. Shigeoka is now rated at junior flyweight in the No. 5 position. That means the previous No. 2 at 105lbs, Thammanoon “Knockout CP Freshmart” Niyomtrong (pictured), has been elevated to the top spot. Freshmart, 25-1 (9 KOs), is a former titleholder himself.

I was pretty sure John Cena would win, but that doesn't mean the WrestleMania Sunday main event didn't conclude like a wet fart. Lots of schmoz. Between that and the episode of The Last Of Us, it felt like a Dante Hicks kind of Sunday: "Life is a series of down notes." https://t.co/jwTUnAdX92
