The world is undergoing significant multi-polarization, spanning economic, political, and social interactions between all nations. This transformation is driven by concerns about the weaponization of global access to commerce, communications, networks, and other entities by home countries, restricting use by disagreeing nations. Unipolarity seems no longer fit for purpose. While multipolarity provides developing countries with alternatives, its downsides are still undergoing scrutiny.

In light of International Women’s Day today and the upcoming two-year anniversary of the Atlanta spa shootings that left seven women dead, it’s imperative that we approach the pervasive problem of gender-based violence with a holistic, multi-pronged approach. According to the World Health Organization one in three women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence at some point in their lives, with younger women having greater risk.

My five-year stint in Parliament ended after the 2019 General Elections, after which I’d never return to government. I was heart-broken, yet the many messages of support from the young people who had passed through our offices was life-affirming. They enjoyed their time politicking with us, and our way of supporting them inspired them to want a better society and to find ways to change old systems that no longer work for us as a whole.

Like many partnerships, opinions differ. In one particular example, it’s the difference of opinion of TV shows that my wife and I have. My (vastly nerdy) upbringing has made me a huge fan of sci-fi, fantasy, action shows, while my wife is a fan of shows like Emily in Paris, Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars.
