Substance use disorders (SUDs) rarely exist in isolation, but rather tend to associate with psychiatric comorbidities that complicate prognosis. Indeed, SUD co-occurs frequently with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which correlates with increased SUD severity and poorer treatment outcomes.
