Now it appears researchers at the Institute of Neuroscience in Shanghai, China, have combined techniques to produce a world first — gene edited, cloned macaque monkeys (Macaca fascicularis).

    Dear EditorThe last thing the NHS needs is a Royal Commission both for the reasons Nigel Crisp set out in his 2017 BMJ article but also because we know what the NHS needs to enable it to survive and prosper. Several recent inquiries, including one launched by the BMJ, and reports from all the respected health policy think tanks have set out what needs to happen. There is a broad consensus on the solutions to which a Royal Commission would add little of value.
