EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — As temperatures soar in El Paso, the Zoo explained it's implementing creative strategies to ensure the animals stay chill. "We put in a lot of thought on how to keep animals cool and warm in the winter," said Kenneth Riley, the Africa and Penguin Supervisor from the El Paso Zoo. Riley detailed the measures saying that during the hot summer months, animals have access to cooling rooms with air conditioning and swamp coolers.

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Emergency crews in the Borderland reported rescuing four people suffering from heat-related illnesses while on area mountains on Wednesday. At around 2:33 p.m., the El Paso Fire Department reported rescuing three people from the Franklin Mountains near the Tom May access road. EPFD said the three were rushed to the hospital, two with minor injuries and one described as in serious condition. No information was provided related to the ages of the patients.

According to a report by KINT, the federal environmental protection agency in Mexico, PROFEPA, seized a tiger from a junkyard in Ciudad Juarez, after it was found on the property with no legal documentation and in unsavory conditions. The report stated that the situation came to the authorities attention after a citizen filed a complaint.
