Being asked to join the judging panel of the Ulster Footballer of the Year Awards by the Castlereagh Glentoran Supporters’ Club is one of the great privileges of my career. Tuesday night’s event was tremendous – credit must go to event organisers Ken Moody and Bobby Carlisle. It was a pleasure to spend time with legends of the game such as Billy Humphries, Billy McAvoy, Eric Bowyer, Paul Leeman and George Dunlop.

It’s fair to say that news of Jordan Stewart’s return to The Oval received a mixed response from the Glentoran faithful. Jordan burst onto the scene in Glens colours over a decade ago when his dazzling performances and eye for the spectacular brought him to the attention of several cross-channel clubs. He eventually signed for Swindon Town in a deal that was believed to be worth around £50,000.
