Jeep has unveiled its flagship electric SUV, the Wagoneer S, the brand’s first global EV, which it says will challenge the Tesla Model Y’s dominance in the U.S. and other key markets. Ahead of the model’s official launch on Thursday in New York, Jeep released a video that showed the Wagoneer S going head-to-head with the Tesla in a race and winning. The model’s 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) figure is shown as 3.4 seconds, undercutting the Tesla’s 3.5 seconds.

MAINZ, Germany – Jeep says its new all-wheel-drive addition to the Avenger range, the 4xe, has the off-road hertitage to give in edge over rivals such as the Dacia Duster, Toyota Yaris Cross and Volkswagen T-Roc in Europe’s largest segment. “It is in the DNA of such an iconic brand to beat everybody else’s capability in the segment, and our Avenger [4xe] can do that,” Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa told Automotive News Europe at an event here to launch the new vehicle on Wednesday.

EISENACH, Germany – Opel has unveiled the next generation of its range-topping Grandland SUV, which the brand hopes will help it boost sales in the compact SUV segment. “It will bring a lot of new customers to Opel, be it from the business or private channels," CEO Florian Huettl told Automotive News Europe at a press event here to launch the new model. At 4,650 mm, the new Grandland is 173 mm longer than the outgoing model. It is 19 mm higher and 64 mm longer.
