An eyewitness tells Fox 5 the man was stopping traffic on the busy, 4-lane road. "I saw the person stopping the vehicle, and he’s not letting other cars pass by. NOW 7 people shot in Northeast DC this afternoon at 3 scenes. DC police looking into whether they’re connected. 2 scenes on Benning Rd. And we’re here on 1100 Mt. Olivet where 3 men+1 woman were shot. 1 man died. Sprawling scene, active investigation. We’re live. #Fox5DC https://t.co/UAIsHQNwMd

As of now, we appear to have dodged some of the worst when it comes to weather, but as you can see, it still impacted flights at DCA. #Fox5DC https://t.co/QFsjxHC63X

Following up on this starting at 4 #Fox5DC Neighbors who live near intersection where this happened tell me the officer is lucky to be OK, bc the area is scary. I'll explain why. PGPD says officer is doing well & cause of collision under investigation. https://t.co/9A0IELol1n
