Tasted on 23/04/2025 Tasted by David Kermode Beaujolais has bounced back, thanks in large part to the quality of the top wines from its 10 ‘Crus’, such as Morgon, which tend to be rather more serious. Offering inviting granite freshness on the nose, the palate has brooding black cherry and blackberry character with a cool crunch to the fruit, notes of charcuterie, supported by vibrant cranberry acidity. After 20 minutes in the fridge, a perfect summer red for a meaty pasta supper.

Tasted on 23/04/2025 Tasted by David Kermode From the warm, arid landscape of South Africa’s Swartland, produced by talented winemakers Duncan Savage and Thys Louw, a delicious blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre, with a splash of Viognier for a floral lift. The perfumed nose leads into a hedgerow feast of bramble and cherry, with a hint of cinnamon bun. The wine is concentrated, complex and crunchy, with a peppercorn finish.

Tasted on 23/04/2025 Tasted by David Kermode M&S offers some real gems in its premium ‘Collection’ range and this Pfalz Riesling is a textbook example, sourced from 23-year-old vines. There’s a cool and enticing nose with russet apple, peach and lime zest, underscored by a delicious mountain stream minerality that melds with the intensity of the fruit. An elegant and sophisticated wine to pair with sushi or sashimi.

Tasted on 23/04/2025 Tasted by David Kermode M&S is expanding its Clocktower sub-brand to bring us a Chardonnay, a variety that really shines in New Zealand but is still overshadowed by the soaraway success of Sauvignon Blanc. What’s more, this comes from the same region as its sister Savvy, Marlborough, produced by the same winemaker, Matt Large, at Wither Hills.

Tasted on 23/04/2025 Tasted by David Kermode The world is waking up to the beauty of old vine wines and Chenin Blanc is a variety that really excels from older vines (in this case up to 40 years of age). The nose offers zesty citrus and fleshy apricot, with a cool, flinty freshness.
