One of our main avenues to achieve this goal is expanding early access to college coursework. Glenbard’s “Profile of a Graduate” guides our work in how we prepare students for college, careers and life. The profile’s six competencies are the qualities we want to instill in all of our graduates.

It’s hard to tell if the popularity of certain ideas on Catholic podcasts and social media accounts signals the overall popularity of those ideas or just one small corner of the digital realm. I’d like to think that most faithful Catholics are too busy spending time with their families, building their parish communities, doing charity, and engaging in other meaningful offline activities to bother with fringe online movements.

North Carolina is moving in the right direction on speech. Our universities are opening up to more voices — with the left losing its grip on campus discourse — as are our ballots, after courts ordered the North Carolina State Board of Elections to certify RFK Jr’s We the People Party and Cornel West’s Justice for All Party. But there are worrying signs that freedom of speech is under threat more broadly. And like so many other parts of American politics, it’s being polarized along party lines.
