China’s largest new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, BYD Company, has entered into a new partnership with Xiaoju Charging, the EV charging subsidiary of Chuxing Technology Company, to jointly build an intelligent, rapid charging network in the country using their latest charging technologies. Earlier this year, BYD unveiled its new “Megawatt Flash Charging” technology, which can provide battery electric vehicles (BEVs) with a driving range of up to 400 km with just a five-minute charge.

Suzuki has suspended production of most of its Swift car models at its Japanese plants due to a shortage of parts linked to China’s rare-earth export restrictions, according to a Nikkei business daily report. Reports say the suspension of production began on May 26 and is set to continue until June 6 due to a shortage of key components. The move is reportedly linked to delays in parts procurement caused by slow Chinese export licence approvals.

China-based Nio is expanding its European rollout by entering seven additional markets in 2025 and 2026. It says that by pursuing a multi-channel strategy, it can increase its reach across Europe while continuing to build on its established direct-to-consumer business and service network in key regions. For Belgium and Luxembourg, Nio cooperates with the Hedin Mobility Group, one of Europe’s largest mobility providers.
