    AbstractBiological age refers to a person's overall health in aging, as distinct from their chronological age. Diverse measures of biological age, referred to as clocks, have been developed in recent years and enable risk assessments, and an estimation of the efficacy of longevity interventions in animals and humans. While most clocks are trained to predict chronological age, clocks have been developed to predict more complex composite biological age outcomes, at least in humans.

Leigh, University of Manchester, UK, has received the August Wilhelm von Hofmann Medal from the GDCh for his “pioneering achievements in the field of nanoscience as well as his tireless efforts as an ambassador for chemistry.” Leigh’s research focuses on artificial molecular machines and molecular topology. It has had a major impact on supramolecular chemistry.

    Every summer, we rent a cottage from a local landowner in the Glens of Angus, a peaceful, largely agricultural district in the foothills of the Grampians. The royal estate at Balmoral, 30 miles away on the other side of the mountains, is probably better known to tourists. We like this obscure part of the world because my wife grew up on a farm here, and so she knows people.
