Carlos Alcaraz wins Roland Garros. He cancels three consecutive match points against Jannik Sinner and wins an epic match that lasted 5 and a half hours, with a score of 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6. For the Spanish champion it is the fifth Slam in his career, second consecutive Roland Garros. SANTA CLARA — Stanford football’s coaching staff was in attendance as guests at the 49ers’ practice Wednesday, and more than one of the college program’s assistants were astonished at just how quickly a certain 36-year-old was moving. That was Trent Williams, who’s arguably the most athletic offensive lineman in NFL history. He was easy to spot at the 49ers’ voluntary offseason program after having missed last week’s open practice.

Jannik Sinner beats Alexander Bublik 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 in one hour and 49 minutes and reaches the semi-finals of Roland Garros . The usual unshakeable, inexorable Jannik, who reserves to Bublik, the great surprise of the tournament, the same treatment reserved to Lehecka and Rublev, at least for one set. SANTA CLARA — “Bouncy” might be best descriptor for the 49ers’ first open 11-on-11 practice of this 2025 season. Christian McCaffrey, most notably, looked like his springy, pre-injury self. The 49ers released punter Mitch Wishnowsky and replaced him with 39-year-old veteran Thomas Morstead on Wednesday. They also signed linebacker Chazz Surratt, a sign that that coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch are continuing to fully entrust both new coordinators with turning around languishing defensive and special teams units. New 49ers teams coordinator Brant Boyer, who inherited the NFL’s worst unit, had already presided over the removal of long snapper Taybor Pepper.

Jaire Alexander to 49ers was never going to happen. People were fooled by a big name and bogus betting market odds. SF loves their group of young CBs and already has the highest cumulative AAV spend of any NFL team. They've been using this offseason to get
