SAULT STE. MARIE- Lake Superior State basketball coach Steve Hettinga will be sticking around the Soo for the next decade. The school announced Wednesday that they’ve signed him to a ten-year deal through 2035. Hettinga is the longest tenured and winningest coach in program history. He guided the Lakers to the Elite 8 of the Division 2 NCAA Tournament, the first in program history. He’s also captured six GLIAC championships during his time with the Lakers so far.

The family of JonBenet was said to be heading to Charlevoix to continue their Christmas celebration in 1996. Former Charlevoix County prosecutor Mary Beth Kur remembers them well.
