Being the leader of the Opposition is the worst job in politics. If Kemi Badenoch did not understand this before she became Conservative leader seven months ago, she must do so now. To be fair to Badenoch, her political inheritance was a poor one. The Tories were reduced to a rump during the general election, losing 250 seats and polling just under 24% of the vote. Easter is always a time of reflection for Irish nationalism. As we reflect on the 1916 Rising and the hugely consequential events that followed, it is hard not to wonder what those who took part in the Rising and the War of Independence would think of modern Ireland and where we should go next as an island. Last weekend, we heard many politicians within nationalism reflect on the legacy of the Rising and where the following steps on the pathway to reunification could lead.
