    FORMER Scotland and Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has revealed he swapped fan mail with music legend Neil Diamond. Strachan, 68, struck up a friendship with the Sweet Caroline singer after a chance encounter in a luxury hotel. The ex-Aberdeen and Manchester United hero said he had been on Scotland duties when Diamond booked into the plush Mar Hall hotel near Glasgow. The five-star venue was a regular choice for international team breaks and led to the pair becoming unlikely pals.

    A PUB named after Celtic legend Billy McNeill has suddenly closed its doors. Cesar's Irish Bar opened five years ago in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, in honour of the Lisbon Lion captain with an iconic image of him hoisting the European Cup outside the door. The popular boozer regularly screened Celtic matches and boasted a huge beer garden. But it has now been closed down with owners teasing on social media that the venue will soon be rebranded.

Abdulkarim Abdulrahman, 21, replied to a post for female escorts on a website which promised the sexual services of teenage girls.

A Scots lorry driver who planned to travel more than 300 miles to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex has been jailed for 16 months. Jonathan Meechan, 35, sparked up online chat with the youngster who stayed in the Hereford area of England. The pair exchanged dozens of messages before Meechan turned the conversation towards sex.
