    The army of the Democratic Republic of Congo has accused Rwanda of dressing up prisoners in military uniforms in an effort to pass them off as newly-captured rebels linked to the Rwandan genocide. It comes after Rwanda-backed M23 rebels in eastern DR Congo said they had captured fighters from the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) - a militia founded by ethnic Hutus who took part in the 1994 genocide against Rwanda's Tutsis.

    Pro-Ukraine protests have taken place across the US after Donald Trump and JD Vance's angry exchange with Volodymr Zelensky at the White House. Hundreds of people gathered in New York, Los Angeles and Boston to express their support for Ukraine after the furious row in the Oval Office. Protesters holding pro-Ukraine signs also lined a road in Waitsfield, Vermont, where Vice-President Vance and his family were visiting for a ski holiday.

    At least four people have died and several others are missing after an avalanche hit the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, authorities have said. A rescue operation has been under way after the avalanche swept away road construction workers in the village of Mana, which shares a border with Tibet, on Friday. Some 50 people who were buried under snow and debris were rescued, but four died from their injuries, the Indian army said.
