Virginia Giuffre, who settled a sexual assault lawsuit against the Duke of York after being trafficked by financier Jeffrey Epstein, has died aged 41. She died on Friday at her farm in Western Australia, her publicist confirmed. “Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors,” her family said in a statement. “Despite all the adversity she faced in her life, she shone so bright.

Mikhail Pichugin, 46, was rescued on Monday by a fishing boat in the Sea of Okhotsk, just east of Russia, officials said. According to reports Mr Pichugin set sail with his brother, 49 and nephew, 15, to watch whales in early August.

A wooden cross erected in memory of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton more than a century ago has been unveiled in its new home in Dundee after a near-8,000 mile journey from Antarctica. Shackleton died in 1922, aged 47, in Grytviken, South Georgia, during his fourth voyage to the region, and was commemorated by his crew, who built a cross from salvaged timber found at whaling stations – known as the Hope Cross.

The audience, polite hardworking Michigan union members, hadn’t been paying attention to the election. Half said they didn’t trust statements made by either political party. Half had no knowledge of what happened on Jan. 6, 2021. Or even heard of it, let alone understand that Donald Trump created that riot to try to stay in power.

A total of 20,913 individuals and a further 144 organisations responded to a call for views from MSPs who are to scrutinise the proposed legislation.
