On Tuesday, Coors Spirits Co. announced the release of Blue Run Flight Series III, a limited-edition lineup of six micro-batch whiskeys blending Kentucky straight bourbon and rye whiskeys. Each expression is blended from no more than four barrels. This is the first time the Blue Run Flight Series combines both bourbon and rye whiskeys. Previous releases focused on single styles or outdoor influences.

Knob Creek announced on Tuesday the addition of a new cask strength option to its Single Barrel Select Program, offering retailers a chance to pick uncut and unfiltered barrels of its bourbon and rye whiskey. The new release, called Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Cask Strength, is bottled straight from the barrel with no water added. Proof ranges from 110 to 130 for the bourbon and 100 to 120 for the rye, depending on the barrel.

The idea spawned in November 2021, when Taffer played around with making a browned butter-infused whiskey using sous vide in the kitchen of Taffer's Tavern in Alpharetta, Georgia. He ended up making a cocktail out of it, which was very popular at the restaurant.

Middle West Spirits announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Old Elk Distillery and its assets, extending the Columbus, Ohio-based company’s reach in the national whiskey market. The acquisition adds Old Elk’s award-winning whiskey portfolio to Middle West’s growing branded lineup. The companies said the move allows them to combine production capabilities, scale operations and expand distribution.
