The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has published a list of 25,252 teachers whose applications for various promotions have been successful. This comes just a day before the commission appears before Parliament to answer questions regarding the promotions in the teaching force. The Departmental Committee on Education of the National Assembly has invited the TSC Chief Executive Nancy Macharia to appear before it on Thursday (today) to discuss matters regarding teachers’ promotions.

Principals of secondary schools have written to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to protest criteria for the promotion of teachers, terming it unfair to some teachers to shelve it. Through the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (Kessha), the principals have petitioned the commission and the National Assembly, arguing that the TSC's quota system for promoting teachers disadvantages regions with a higher number of qualified teachers.
